Coughing is the first sign, our body make mucus every day, and it’s presence is not necessarily a sign of any thing unhealthy.

Mucus or the other name is phlegm is when it’s produced by our respiratory system, it lines the tissue of the body such as nose, mouth, throat and lungs, and it also protect from infection.
Our body makes about a litre of mucus a day, but if it increases too much in our lungs specially then that will be a sign of productive cough. It na be annoying and possibly a sign of health problem.
Here are the few situations you might increase your mucus from them:

ACID REFLUX

What You Can Do at Home
To control or loosen mucus at home, you can try the following remedies:

Drink lots of fluids. Drink plenty of water and other fluids but not things that can dehydrate you like alcohol or coffee.

Chicken soup; it really gives you strength and help mucus clear out and gives you a Soothing effect in throat and chest irritation.

Humidifier. Try to use it at home or hop into steamy shower to help moisturise your airway.

Avoid Smoking or vaping, these can develop more mucus.

Try a tea spoon of honey, it has a soothing and moisture effect. But don’t give honey to under 1year of age.

Check air filters Of cooling and heating systems, can make mucus production worse.

Home cleaners and disinfectants and air fresheners.
home cleaners and disinfectant sprays or air freshener can also cause allergies. Itchy eyes burning hands sneezing coughing are the main symptoms. Which leads to production of the mucus in your lungs.


Take an expectorant with guaifenesin, it helps in loosing sputum so you can easily cough it out.

On its own, mucus isn’t a worrisome symptom. If it comes with a cough that doesn’t go away after several weeks, it’s greenish yellow or blood-tinged, or you also have fever or shortness of breath, you should call your doctor.
